History
The Nebraska Association of Local Health Directors (NALHD) is a 501(c)(3) professional association of Nebraska’s local public health department directors. Founded in 2010, NALHD is recognized nationally and locally for its expertise in developing and coordinating public health initiatives that benefit communities statewide.
NALHD amplifies the impact of local and tribal public health departments. Through NALHD, members leverage resources, pursue organizational excellence, facilitate peer learning, build collaborative systems, and advocate for public health policy. NALHD’s dynamic initiatives help members address various factors that impact Nebraskans’ health. NALHD members are recognized as critical partners in convening communities, developing policy, implementing evidence-based models of public health practice, identifying local priority initiatives, and facilitating relationships to support the work of making Nebraskans healthy and well.
NALHD maintains partnerships with government agencies, policymakers, academic institutions, community-based organizations, advocacy groups, and representatives from business, education, healthcare, housing, and other entities. NALHD is Nebraska’s affiliate of the National Association of County and City Health Officials (NACCHO).
