Staying Calm and Communicating During Difficult Interactions
This event will be held on Wednesday, October 21, 2026, from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at the Holiday Inn, 110 Second Avenue, Kearney, NE 68847. Lunch is included.
Community Health Workers (CHWs) and environmental health professionals often work in situations where people are stressed, frustrated, or upset. Join leadership facilitator and psychotherapist Abra Poindexter, LICSW, LIMHP, for an interactive session on how to stay calm, respond effectively, and keep difficult situations from escalating. Through practical guidance, reflection, discussion, and hands-on practice, participants will learn strategies to:
- Manage their own stress and emotions in the moment
- Remain steady when someone else is upset
- Set clear and respectful boundaries
- Communicate effectively during challenging interactions
- Protect their well-being and reduce burnout
